American Airlines makes overhead bins roomier
(CNN) -- Travelers on American Airlines soon will be able to squeeze a
little more baggage into those overhead bins.
American Airlines announced an $80 million effort Tuesday to increase overhead storage
capacity on about 500 narrow-body jets. The expansion will allow travelers to store more rolling luggage wheels first, creating more room and making it easier to stow and remove bags, the airline said
That also will create an easier boarding and deplaning
process, American said.
"More room enhances the entire onboard travel experience," Mike Gunn,
American's executive vice president of marketing and planning, said in a
statement.
Installation of the bin extensions is set to begin early next year. It comes
amid efforts to increase leg room throughout American's coach cabins.
The airline already has installed its "More Room" interiors in 635 of its 719
planes, including all of its domestic fleet.
