DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: A few minutes ago we told you of word of an exposition taking place in Netanya, Israel.

For more on that, let's go to our Jerrold Kessel standing by in Jerusalem.

Jerrold, what do you know?

JERROLD KESSEL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Reports coming in, confirmation from the Israeli police that there has been a car bomb explosion in the town of Netanya, north of Tel Aviv -- some 25 miles north of Tel Aviv. Initial reports talking of five people injured -- all likely and mostly from shock.

The bomb, according to the Israeli police, was in an industrial zone just to the east of the city and -- but nearby a technical high school on the site. There may have been a few students around because it is after school hours. It's now just after 4:00 local time. And that may have accounted for the small number of casualties, according to Israeli police.

Initial reports from the health -- the medical relief services are on the spot. Five people are being treated, mostly for shock, some minor injuries in this latest car bombing inside Israel -- Daryn.

KAGAN: Jerrold, anybody claiming responsibility or any sign of who might be responsible for this explosion?

KESSEL: Not -- it's very early. This happened just 10 to 15 minutes ago. There has been no claim of responsibility. Of the last series of car bombings inside Israel, the claims were made by radical Palestinian organizations, both Islamic groups and ultra-nationalist groups on the Palestinian side.

Now, there was, in addition to the car bombs, last night, on the main Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway, and this is the first time that this major traffic artery between the two main cities in Israel, there was a bomb discovered on the side of the road. Actually, cooking gas canisters attached to explosives. They were spotted by an alert worker on the side of the highway. Traffic was stopped for a couple of hours as the bomb was defused and as the automatic roadblock, as it's called, came in to defuse the bomb. It -- the gas canisters attached to the explosive, they went off. No one was hurt. But that was a strike nearby in a main traffic artery between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem last night.

This, the latest car bomb north of Tel Aviv going off -- only five people hurt.

KAGAN: Jerrold Kessel in Jerusalem.
