MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN ANCHOR: At the top of the hour, we told you about how that standoff in northern Idaho had peacefully come to an end. We want to check in once more with our correspondent out there, CNN's Eileen O'Connor -- Eileen.

EILEEN O'CONNOR, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, we're hearing from Bonner General Hospital that the children were taken there, Martin, and that they are now in good condition. They were taken there by the authorities who basically took them out of the compound, where they were holding off the authorities for five days, in a sports utility vehicle that came into the compound.

Now, in the last 24 hours, authorities used two people that the children trusted to deliver a message to the children from their mother, JoAnn McGuckin. She is still in jail where she has been charged with child abuse for neglecting their basic needs, and JoAnn McGuckin has sent this message that said to the children that she loved them, she hoped they were OK, and that they should cooperate with authorities.

What we are now hearing, then, is that they are out, they are safe, and that they are in good condition -- Martin.

SAVIDGE: Eileen O'Connor, thanks very much for the update from northern Idaho.
