DONNA KELLEY, CNN ANCHOR: We begin with the latest developments surrounding the disappearance of former intern Chandra Levy. CNN has now learned that police have subpoenaed the phone records of California Congressman Gary Condit. Police also say that they expect to question him for a third time. Condit has been dogged by reports that he had a romantic relationship with Levy, something he denies. CNN's Martin Savidge is joining us from Condit's district in Modesto, California with the latest -- Marty.

MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Donna. Police in Washington, D.C., as you say, have used the power of subpoena now to request that they take a look at the telephone records of 24-year-old Chandra Levy, the missing intern, and they also would like to look at the telephone records and cellular telephone records of Congressman Gary Condit.

Now, they are using a grand injury to get this subpoena power. They stress nothing should be read into that, that is standard operating procedure in the District of Columbia, that is the way things are done. Police say they would also like to take a look at the medical records of Chandra Levy to see if they could gain any insight there as well. And also, police would like to talk to the congressman for a third time. Specifically, they would like to gain more insight and clarification of the relationship, if any that existed between the congressman and the young intern.

Congressman Condit has maintained throughout all of this that they were nothing more than good friends. However, yesterday an aunt of Chandra Levy came forward and said that before she disappeared, the intern confided with her, saying that the congressman and her were having a romantic affair.

And police have also revealed a little more information concerning the in interview that took place on Thursday involving Carolyn Condit, she is the wife of the congressman. That interview lasted for about three hours, but police say that they really did not gain a great deal more insight. It did not move the case forward as far as the whereabouts of Chandra Levy.

They wanted to talk to Carolyn because she was with her husband in Washington, D.C. at or about the time that the intern disappeared. And finally, the congressman and his wife have not been seen publicly for several days -- Donna.

KELLEY: Martin Savidge in Modesto, California, thank you.
