DONNA KELLEY, CNN ANCHOR: We begin this hour with the Chandra Levy case and where investigators hope to turn next in the search for the missing former intern. For the third straight day police searched abandoned buildings and parks in the Washington, D.C. area. That follows news from Congressman Gary Condit's attorney yesterday that the California Democrat took and passed a polygraph test. Levy's parents and police are not satisfied with that test.

And for the latest, we want to turn to CNN national correspondent Martin Savidge; he's in Modesto, California -- Marty.

MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Donna.

The Levy family really hasn't had much to say in the last 24 hours. In fact, they're not even home right now; they've decided to try to get away to a nearby festival for a short time, hoping to come out from under the intense media scrutiny that they have been ominer -- under, that is; and also, as Mrs. Levy put it, hoping to try to get away from those very haunting images of the search that's being conducted in Washington, D.C. Just before she left, Mrs. Levy said it is just another day in hell.

Meanwhile, as you mentioned, for a third straight day Washington, D.C. police fanned out to continue looking through abandoned buildings and other sites in the metro D.C. area for, essentially, the body of the missing intern. That search has not found Chandra Levy, but police say they are also looking for any evidence that could give authorities any clue about her disappearance.

LT. RALPH NEAL, D.C. METROPOLITAN POLICE: Any kind of clues; any type of clothing; or anything that she have may been wearing that day, such as a pocketbook or identification, and any personal belongings that she may have on her.

SAVIDGE: As we mentioned, the Levy family has had very little to say in reaction to that independent lie detector test that, reportedly, Congressman Gary Condit took and passed. Their attorney, Billy Martin, portrayed the Levys as, quote, "very disappointed," unquote. And he was critical of how Condit, as he put it, snuck off to take that examination. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BILLY MARTIN, LEVY FAMILY ATTORNEY: Once again it shows to us that the congressman is releasing information on his terms and at the -- when he wants to release that information. We're wanting him to be fully cooperative, and not cooperate on his terms.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

SAVIDGE: Washington, D.C. police also expressed that they are dissatisfied, primarily with the conditions under which that polygraph test was administered. They say they would have much preferred doing that test and giving it themselves.

And speaking of the subject of dissatisfaction, there is a new poll that has come out in the local newspaper, "The Modesto Bee," and it continues to show a heavy erosion in support for Congressman Gary Condit. This was a man who was reelected last election with about 67 percentage points of the vote. Now, this new poll says, of those that were asked, would you support reelecting the Congressman again, 59 percent said no.

What that shows is that, despite the fact that the congressman continues to try to demonstrate that he had nothing to do with Chandra Levy's disappearance, his report admission of having an affair with her and other information that has come out about his private life is deeply troubling to his constituents back home -- Donna.

KELLEY: Martin Savidge in Modesto, thanks for the information.
