DONNA KELLEY, CNN ANCHOR: More developments today in the Chandra Levy mystery. Washington, D.C. detectives met with city cab drivers, hoping to jog some memories or produce some shred of evidence that might be linked to the missing intern.
Here with the latest in the case is CNN's Rusty Dornin. She is in Modesto, California -- Rusty.
RUSTY DORNIN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Donna, we are here in front of Congressman Condit's office in Modesto, where there was scheduled to be a demonstration asking for Condit's resignation. Now, there have been a series of protests this week, both pro and con for Condit. The pro-Condit demonstrators did show up on Wednesday; there was an anti demonstration on Tuesday. And then both sides showed up to square off on Thursday.
Now, in Washington, the investigation has been -- is still going on. However, the search has been suspended along the riverbanks and parks near Washington, D.C. -- near Chandra Levy's apartment, where she was last seen. One part of the investigation that is remaining active over the weekend is that detectives are talking to the cab drivers in Washington, D.C., asking them to search their memory banks, search their log books for anything that might be suspicious or might be connected to Chandra Levy's disappearance.

LT. BRIAN MCALLISTER, D.C. METROPOLITAN POLICE: Just by their very nature -- they're out on the street; they see a lot, they hear a lot. And we'd like to know if they have any information that's relative to the case that they'd like to share with us. That's why we're here.
QUESTION: They're the ones who invited you out?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
DORNIN: Now, another thing that investigators are concentrating on is the Web surfing that Chandra Levy apparently did on May 1 from about 9:30 in the morning until about 12:30 in the afternoon. For three hours she browsed travel sites and looked at airline schedules, and also even a Baskin Robbins which was in her neighborhood.
Now, she finished about 12:30. What's significant about that is now Vice President Dick Cheney's office has confirmed that Congressman Gary Condit did have a meeting with him on May 1 about 12:30 to talk about energy issues. And that meeting lasted for about a half an hour. It's only significant in the light of the fact that the last time there was any trace of Chandra Levy was about that time.
Congressman Condit, of course, is not a suspect, or has never been considered a suspect in this case.
Now, while -- with the search suspended, the Levys have also decided to take a weekend away from all of the spotlight. They have gone off for a couple days and will return. This, of course, has been a period of agonizing uncertainty. They have expressed a lot of emotion over the last week on having to watch the searchers comb the riverbanks and other areas, and coming up with things that -- they have no idea whether it's connected to Chandra's disappearance or not. Nit it's been a very emotional week for the Levys -- Donna.
KELLEY: Rusty Dornin in Modesto, thanks very much.
