Carmen Thankful for MTV

LAURIN SYDNEY, CNN ANCHOR: Michael Jackson is a big part of MTV's past. Joining me now, a woman who is a big part of the network's past, and future, as it celebrates 20 years on the air. Carmen Electra, welcome to SHOWBIZ TODAY.
CARMEN ELECTRA, ACTRESS/MODEL: Thank you.
SYDNEY: From "Singled Out" a couple years ago, to "Hypermixed" right now. You've seen this network go through a lot of changes. But what has MTV done for you?
ELECTRA: I think MTV really creates stars, you know, they really know how to take someone that's had no experience, bring them in, sort of just put them on television and on MTV, all the kids love to watch the show, and it just creates celebrities, it creates stars.
And you can see that even with the videos, even with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, as soon as that video hits MTV, all of a sudden, you just have this amazing fan base. So I'm really thankful I've been able to be a part of MTV, it really helped a lot.
SYDNEY: Talk about creating stars, you now have six films, count them, six films in the can, that is absolutely unbelievable. Why six? Why are they so backed up?
ELECTRA: Because everyone was concerned there would be a strike, so basically everyone decided to shoot all their movies at once. I shot a movie with Tara Reid called "The Guest." And I think she just shot three movies in a row. So everyone's been really busy. But it's nice to have a little vacation now.
SYDNEY: A little vacation. But yet, you are on your way to shoot a new music video with your new fellow, Dave Navarro; when are you doing that?
ELECTRA: Yes. I believe on the 10th and 11th. He has a record out now, as you know, and the name of the song is called "Hungry." So it should be fun.
SYDNEY: And you are madly in love with him. Your eyes sparkle when you talk about him.
ELECTRA: Absolutely. He's an amazing person, and we really understand each other. So I think having that communication in the relationship is really important, and we definitely have that.
SYDNEY: As if that's not enough, a show on MTV -- you're also having a show developed for you from the creators of "Spiderman."
ELECTRA: Yes. Stan Lee, who is the creator of "Spiderman", "X- Men." He created this character called Diabella. She is the devil's daughter. So that is in development with Sony right now.
SYDNEY: Incredible, and she has time to do a whole Vegas act with "The Aladdin". What is it like to mount a whole new Vegas show in this day and age?
ELECTRA: Actually the Vegas show is very exciting to me, because I've been a dancer my entire life. I started when I was 5 years old. To be on stage is my dream. There's nothing like being in front of an audience. So, when "The Aladdin" approached me about doing a Vegas show, I was just really excited. The name of the show is called "Lumier", which is light. I can't wait to get started. I'm trying to get Jamie King -- he's an amazing choreographer and director...
SYDNEY: He did Madonna.
ELECTRA: The Madonna show that I was at last night, which was amazing, so I'm trying to get him onboard and it's going to be a lot of fun.
SYDNEY: I just want our viewers to know, as I walked into the Green Room today to meet Carmen, she was eating chocolate and Coca- Cola. And she looks like this. What is the secret?
ELECTRA: I don't eat it all the time. But -- I've been eating healthy for the past week like chicken and vegetables, and just eating really clean. So, when I got here today, I just kind of felt a little weak, like I needed something, I had a craving for chocolate. And I think if you have a craving, you should go for it.
SYDNEY: OK, I have a craving to talk back to Lou and Natalie.
