LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: This just in to CNN from our congressional correspondent Kate Snow: Sen. John McCain, the Republican from Arizona, will check into the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, Wednesday morning to undergo minor prostate surgery. That would be tomorrow morning. The surgery would happen Thursday morning, and McCain should be out of the hospital by Friday or Saturday.

This is not related to his history of skin cancer, and this is not prostate cancer. Doctors discovered during a recent cancer checkup, which revealed no body cancer, that John McCain's prostate was enlarged. So this is an operation to relieve that situation of the prostate against the bladder, and the senator should be back to work by next week.

We wish him well.
