LAURIN SYDNEY, CNN ANCHOR: And New York is going to get another chance to pay tribute to Michael Jackson tonight. The second of two concerts takes place at Madison Square Garden this evening.

Friday night's concert was filled with highlights and some rather bizarre moments, like when Marlon Brando was wheeled out on a couch and spoke about child abuse.

Jackson performed with Whitney, with Britney, and his brothers, while stars like Liz Taylor looked on.

Usher, who opened the show with Whitney Houston, told "Showbiz Today Reports" after the concert that it was an honor to sing for Michael.

USHER: We had a great opening number. Whitney Houston, my god, the vocals were great. You know what? Me and Whitney even got on stage, did a little hop dance. I mean, honestly, like that's what great music and performance is really all about, having signature movement in those songs that everybody can just feel good about.

SYDNEY: OK, as expected, "Survivor" outplayed, outlasted and outwitted its competition at the Creative Emmy Awards in Hollywood this weekend.

And as Sherri Sylvester reports, Hollywood's still really, really, really likes Sally Fields.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What a shocker: "Survivor."

SHERRI SYLVESTER, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): For the first time reality shows were recognized by Emmy, "Survivor" won its category much to its host's relief.

JEFF PROBST, HOST, "SURVIVOR": I had the oddest feeling as they were reading the names that we weren't going to win and how embarrassing that was going to be because the show is so popular, and then to get snubbed. I was sitting there thinking, wow, make sure you control your facial muscles.

SYLVESTER: At the Creative Emmys, the categories can be difficult to recite.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And the Emmy for Outstanding Picture Editing for Nonfiction Programming, Single or Multicamera.

SYLVESTER: And hard to understand.

TONY ASKINS, CINEMATOGRAPHER, "WILL & GRACE": We shoot with Panavision equipment. We shoot with Premo zoom lenses that are 11-1 -- this is technical talk.

SYLVESTER: It's the award show primarily for TVs craft and technical people, who rarely get the glory.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And it feels really wonderful. Because we all work hard behind the scenes, and it's really nice to have this night.

SYLVESTER: Awards were presented to hair stylists, makeup artists, sound designers, and animators, most of whom are not used to being on camera.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I'm an animator, I don't get out too much.

(LAUGHTER)

SYLVESTER: "The Simpsons" won for the tenth time as best animated program under an hour. Hank Azaria took home a second trophy for his voice-over work on the show.

HANK AZARIA: I think I enjoy Professor Frank (ph) the most, because he basically Jerry Lewis from the "Nutty Professor."

SYLVESTER: Overall, the "West Wing" won four awards, "The Sopranos" just won. "Frasier" earned another three Emmys, including one for the best actress, Jean Smart.

JEAN SMART, GUEST ACTRESS, "FRASIER": I was so nervous this time. I was just -- I was so nervous, I was shocked.

SYLVESTER: And Sally Field learned they really, liked her work on "ER."

SALLY FIELD, GUEST ACTRESS, "ER": My god, I love being an actor. I so, so love being an actor, and I am so damn grateful I still get to work.

SYLVESTER: She compared the role to bon bons.

FIELD: Certainly as actor, It's like being handed a box of (UNINTELLIGIBLE) chocolates, which I love (UNINTELLIGIBLE) chocolates.

SYLVESTER: Sweet victory will come to more Emmy contenders at the main award ceremony on Sunday. Sherri Sylvester, CNN, Los Angeles.
