America's New War: Volunteers Gather in New York

PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: The president is going to be holding a radio address sometime within the next three minutes. They are usually pretty punctual down there. At 10:06, we expect to dip into that live. In the meantime, I'm going to check in with Bill Hemmer, who, once again, joins us from the Jacob Javitz Center. What's going on down there now?

BILL HEMMER, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Paula, just to let our viewers know once again, this is one of the main staging areas for workers and volunteers to gather before they're sent several blocks south to the World Trade Center.

This is what we're looking at right now. The men standing over here, primarily in white and yellow hats, are union workers, construction workers, engineers. They have been given the go-ahead to go down to the site, but they are just waiting now for FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to go ahead and give them the go- ahead to head down further south. In the meantime, though, the volunteers continue to -- continue to...
