(BETTE MIDLER SINGING)

LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Boy, she looks as good as she sounds, Carol.

CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: She sure does.

HARRIS: Incredible.

LIN: Bette Midler.

HARRIS: These are pictures from that memorial service yesterday at Yankee Stadium in New York.

LIN: Yes, a nice coming together for people. Lots of celebrities coming out for that.

HARRIS: Yes, big time.

A dramatic memorial was erected outside of one Oklahoma church to remember those who were lost in the terrorist attacks as well.

LIN: Yes, these members of the Bible Baptist Church put up over 5,000 white crosses. The youth pastor says the church wanted to recognize and help illustrate the significant loss of life on September 11, and sure those folks know what it means to have that kind of loss with the Oklahoma City bombing.

HARRIS: Oh that's right, they've been through it a couple of times.

LIN: That's right.

HARRIS: That and tornadoes having gone through there.

LIN: Sharing that experience.

HARRIS: They've been through a lot there. They understand.

You know and since those horrible attacks we've been talking about on September 11, almost two weeks ago now, we've heard from many, many people from across the country about patriotism.

LIN: Yes, it's kind of neat. Today's reflection on patriotism is from one who travels the country kicking the U.S. into soccer history books. Here's soccer star Mia Hamm.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

MIA HAMM, U.S. NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM: The players on that team, you know we talk about the reverence we have and you know the national anthem being the most beautiful song you'll ever hear and the honor of putting on that jersey and representing that country has meant so much to all of us. But I think in light of everything that's going on and has gone on, you're going to take greater pride in what you do and who and what you represent. When you stand up and look at that flag, what it represents is the ability to express yourself. And you know, standing before that flag you are honoring the people that everyday give their lives to make sure that you have the freedom to do what you do and express yourself the way you want to.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

LIN: Nice, the red, white and blue there.

HARRIS: Well said.

LIN: Yes, absolutely.

HARRIS: Very well said.
