DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: The supreme ruler of the Taliban had some strong words of warning for anyone thinking of trying to oust the regime. Mullah Mohemmed Omar says that if the former Afghanistan king Mohammed Zahir Shah tries to return to Afghanistan, he will be -- and these are his words -- choosing his own destruction. Nic Robertson has more from Pakistan.

NIC ROBERTSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): In a hard-line statement in a nationally broadcast radio address, the Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammed Omar said the exiled King Zahir Shah should be ashamed of himself if he considered coming back. He said the Afghan people would not accept a puppet regime installed by America.

He said that if the king came back, he would be choosing his own destruction. Mullah Mohammed Omar went on to say that the Americans could never rule the whole country. He said they might be able to take the cities and the airports, but it wouldn't be able to control the countryside.

He also said that the Taliban could not be crushed. He said the Taliban was not a loose organization and even if he, Mullah Mohammed Omar was killed, he said the Taliban would not be destroyed. He said that America should look at the reasons why they were attacked and he said if he didn't address those reasons, then America would continue to be attacked.

He also said that at this time he didn't consider the United States was about to attack Afghanistan. He said they were saber rattling and that he has nothing to fear this time. Nic Robertson, CNN, Quetta, Pakistan.
