PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: CNN is confirming that Bernadine Healy will be resigning from the Red Cross. She is expected to make that announcement later today.

She is a highly respected doctor, but has been known as a controversial head of the Red Cross. There has been a lot of controversy about some of the confusion surrounding dispersement of funds, not only from the Red Cross, but other agencies that have raised money for the victims of the September 11 attacks. And more recently, the criticism directed towards her has been that the Red Cross has been far too aggressive in soliciting funds for the Red Cross at a time when you had Americans contributing some $1 billion in the families' honor.

Once again, Bernadine Healy will be resigning from the Red Cross.
