KYRA PHILLIPS CNN ANCHOR: Another view from the ground in Afghanistan, this time from Kabul, and a reporter from the Arab television network, Al Jazeera.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

TAYSSEER ALLOUNI, AL JAZEERA CORRESPONDENT: A lot of the people of Kabul have moved out. They've tried leaving the city, the capital, but most of the people who stayed on are the very poor and desperate, who have no -- who have -- they can't actually go elsewhere. As they told us, they don't have anywhere to go to. The only possible way would be for them is to go out in the open. They are very depressed and very desperate. This is a very painful -- ironic.

This man is actually looking through the rubble, trying to find any bodies underneath. We saw a lot of families who actually live on bread and tea. They can't go elsewhere; they don't have the money and they don't have the resources.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

PHILLIPS: Once again that was translated by reporter Taysseer Allouni in Kabul.
