Associated Press: Bin Laden has Left Afghanistan

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: We're getting word from The Associated Press that Osama bin Laden has left Afghanistan. Once again, this is coming from The Associated Press. We are working to confirm this independently.

We are told the Taliban envoy to Pakistan Abdul Salam Zaeef has told the AP that Osama bin Laden has left Afghanistan and that the Islamic militia did not know his whereabouts. He goes on to say that Osama has left Afghanistan with his children and his wives, and that they have no idea where he has gone. The envoy told The Associated Press this -- Abdul Salam Zaeef.

Once again, we also got word through The Associated Press that a U.S. intelligence official has told The Associated Press that Americans have no evidence that bin Laden has left Afghanistan. The official says the Taliban has made a number of false claims during this war, and says they will not confirm this information.

Once again, breaking new from the Taliban envoy to Pakistan, Abdul Salam Zaeef, telling The Associated Press that bin Laden has left Afghanistan.
