PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: We share breaking news with you. Let's go straight to the Pentagon where Bob Franken has an update from officials there. Bob.

BOB FRANKEN, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Well, this is from Pentagon spokesperson Victoria Clarke, Paula, who says -- confirms that yesterday morning about 5:15 Eastern time, right here the time in Washington, five U.S. Special Operations troops -- she didn't specify Special Operations troops, but that's what they were, who were participating in trying to suppress the riot at the prison in Mazar-e- Sharif of foreign Taliban fighters, five were injured when a U.S.- dropped bomb, one that is a -- a smart bomb, as it's called, guided by satellite -- in fact landed too close to this group of soldiers and five were injured. None of them life threatening, according to Clarke. Three of them, however, seriously enough injured that they had to be transported by medevac to Uzbekistan. And as for the reports that there was some sort of U.S. fighter who was killed in the fighting, all that Clarke would say is that all military personnel are accounted for. Paula.

ZAHN: All right, Bob Franken. Thank you so much for that breaking news.
