JACK CAFFERTY, CNN ANCHOR: Coccooning and nesting are watch words for 2002, with Americans more reluctant to travel and more and more of us staying home since the events of 9-11. The houseware industry is hoping people will be doing a lot of cooking and cleaning in the upcoming years. CNN's Jeff Flock is at the world's largest annual home products convention in Chicago, and he joins us now with a live report. Good morning.

JEFF FLOCK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning Jack. I'm sure there are a lot of things that you would like here this morning at the houseware show. Take a look from up high, you see how big this place is and we've got in and beat the crowds this morning. I want to show you the very latest, something I'm sure Jack would be very interested in. What is this, Howard?

HOWARD: This is Sally the safety pig. Sally is designed for bathtub safety.

FLOCK: When she gets too hot, what does she do?

HOWARD: She squeals, alert you that the water is too hot.

FLOCK: There you go, something for everyone. And Howard, what have you got there?

HOWARD: We've got the Foo Zoo Oku (ph) five-finger massage glove, therapeutical massage glove, that's dual speed.

FLOCK: A vibrating glove.

HOWARD: Vibrating glove made out of (UNINTELLIGIBLE) material, more like a bathing suit completely submersible in water.

FLOCK: Take it in the tub with you, and you get - you get warned if it's too hot. Over here I've got a vacuum cleaner - go ahead and kick in on Howard because we want to see how this works. What is this, a Eureka - what is it called?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is the Eureka world-in (ph) ultra and we're going to actually pick up an 1,800-pound Volkswagen with its amazing suction power.

FLOCK: As we speak, go ahead and turn it on. Turn it on, and we're going to lift it. As it goes up 1,800 pounds - will this suck up my carpets and rip up my floor board?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No it won't. It will clean like you've never seen before.

FLOCK: Now is the suction really holding this?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The suction is holding it - absolutely.

FLOCK: Can you drop it and let me see if it's true?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I certainly can. Are you going to stand back?

FLOCK: Turn the thing off.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And here we go.

FLOCK: Jeez, now there you go. That obviously works. Don Johnson of Eureka, thank you so much. We got so many things to show you now. Janet, show me this. What is - what is this thing down here? What have you got here?

JANET: We have a beautiful rectroware (ph) Mickey Mouse toaster by Delaware.

FLOCK: So if you toast, you get - you get Mickey in the - in the thingamajig there.

JANET: Yes. You put the toast in, when it pops up ...

FLOCK: Oh breakfast and a song. Super, what's this one here?

JANET: This is (UNINTELLIGIBLE) made a retractable vegetable peeler.

FLOCK: Something you take on board an aircraft, no doubt.

JANET: Hopefully, you don't do that. You put it in your - keep it in your kitchen drawer and ...

FLOCK: You don't cut your fingers when you're in there.

(CROSSTALK)

FLOCK: What is this one? This one looks kind of cute. In fact, you've got my, I think you've got my children in there, don't you? Those are my daughters there.

JANET: We sure do. Timeless Treasures has made this beautiful clock where you can put pictures of your favorite people, your coworkers, and there's a message on every hour.

FLOCK: Now I know we sent one for Paula, I think, here didn't we?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) good morning Paula, rise and shine. Time to get to work.

FLOCK: OK, that was a 2:00 a.m. wakeup call for Paula, very good here. Now these are kind of cool. What are these things Janet?

JANET: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) it's the latest in brooms. You have a dinner party, somebody spills, you're not embarrassed to come clean up the mess when you have a beautiful broom.

FLOCK: And I've got a picture of a dog here, but I take it there's more to it than that. Go ahead.

JANET: Bright Sensor has made a beautiful blood pressure monitor. There's a picture on the front, open it up, there's a blood pressure sensor.

FLOCK: A lot of people need to take their blood pressure ...

JANET: Memory for four different people.

FLOCK: OK and now what is this - looks like a big sort of a radio. What ...

JANET: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) has made a wonderful ...

FLOCK: A radio plus a (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

JANET: Take it to the picnics, have your music together. You don't have to take a separate boom box.

FLOCK: This is the very latest - you know I think we're out of time. We'll come back in about two hours. What do you think? There's more, if you haven't seen enough yet. The houseware show, it's on, this is the very latest and we've got more to come, so stay tuned.

PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: So Jeff, do you have a - oh I'm sorry.

CAFFERTY: That's all right.

ZAHN: Jack, it's your turn.

CAFFERTY: No.

ZAHN: Go ahead.

FLOCK: Jack is more interested than you are in this stuff Paula.

CAFFERTY: I'm fascinated by this. You know what? I got hung up very early in the report. I couldn't get past the massaging glove there. I got - I got stuck right there, but you're going to be back later in the program, right, with more of these things - singing ...

(CROSSTALK)

FLOCK: If you haven't had enough, I will come back. Sure. CAFFERTY: OK. Well no, we'll look forward to it. Thanks Jeff very much, and don't forget to e-mail us. Our address is am@cnn.com and we will read some of this stuff on the - on the air here in the next hour.

ZAHN: Hey, my personal favorite, the Mickey Mouse toaster thing.

CAFFERTY: The kids would like ...

ZAHN: That would be a huge hit in our house because our waffle iron with the little Mickey Mouse form, failed ...

CAFFERTY: Oh it doesn't ...

ZAHN: ... after nine years of use.

CAFFERTY: Oh no.

ZAHN: So the toaster just may be the answer.

CAFFERTY: There you go.
