BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: We want to bring our viewers up to date, once again, in a story we talked about 11 minutes ago in San Francisco, the international airport.

According to the Associated Press and confirming here through CNN that thousands have been evacuated there at the airport, there -- courtesy of KRON you are seeing this live picture right now. A man apparently left the security gate with explosive residue on his shoes. A check of the man's sneakers showed some type of explosive residue. The man said it could have been from fireworks. He then walked away. The investigation has not been completed, the man has not been found.

We do know there, for travelers in and out of San Francisco and the West Coast, there is going to be a major headache at this point. 61 of 89 domestic gates have affected at that airport. All flights at those gates are being held.

Again, a story out of San Francisco. Got a crew on the way to the airport. We'll get more as we get it. Again, that story breaking now as the dawn breaks there. 8:11 a.m., West coast time in San Francisco.
