BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Two girls from the same school and the same neighborhood are now missing, and the FBI believes their disappearances may be related. The first girl from Oregon City disappeared back on the 9th of January. The second turned up missing on Friday of last week.

David Okarski of our affiliate KOIN now reports on both cases.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

DAVID OKARSKI, KOIN CORRESPONDENT: Children arrive on foot, on bicycle, and by car at Oregon City's Gardner Middle School. Many don't know 13-year-old Miranda Gaddis hasn't been seen since she left for school Friday morning, and neither do their parents.

LARRY FELGAR, PARENT: I'm shocked. I'm totally shocked. Well, now I'm worried about my kids going to school.

OKARSKI: The district started Sunday making plans to counsel students when they returned from the weekend.

BARRY ROTROCK, SUPERINTENDENT, OREGON CITY SCHOOLS: We set up a support room for kids. We got information that we are reading to kids right away, and then we are asking classroom teachers to discuss the issues with the kids, so that they can get that all out on the table.

OKARSKI: They are also giving the children the police tip line phone number, so they can give investigators any information they have that might help.

On January 9th, another classmate, Ashley Pond, disappeared, also after leaving for school from home in the same apartment complex where Miranda lives.

FELGAR: I've got friends that knew the girl -- the first girl that's missing. So yeah, this will change everything.

OKARSKI: This parent says he is going to drive his kids to school every day from now on.
