FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: Across Britain and around the world, millions of people are fondly remembering the life of Britain's queen mother, who died yesterday at age 101. Funeral services are set for April 9 in London. CNN's Matthew Chance has more from Windsor Castle.

MATTHEW CHANCE, CNN CORRESPONDENT (on camera): We are indeed here at Windsor Castle. The focus at least for the royal family and, as you can see, for a lot of other people for the commemorations of the queen mother's death.

There's already been some religious services taking place -- one just behind me -- just behind the walls here and through these gates -- the King Henry VIII gates -- a service for the people of Windsor.

There's been another service as well attended by the queen in a more private chapel inside the gates of Windsor Castle -- key members of the royal family that weren't at that service have been making their way to Winsdor Castle from around the world.

Prince Andrew, the ex-husband of Fergie, of course, the duke of York, has been making his way back from a vacation in Barbados with his two daughters. The prince of Wales has already arrived in Britain from a skiing holiday in Switzerland with his two sons, William and Harry. They're already inside Windsor Castle.

Now the death of the queen mother, of course, particularly disturbing and upsetting for Prince Charles. Now from here we're told that royal advisers will be meeting throughout the course of the day to finalize plans for the funeral of the queen mother.

As we understand it right now she'll be taken from this point over the course of the next few days to lay in -- to lie in state in London before a full funeral service is held at Westminster Abbey. Her remains will finally be brought back here to Windsor Castle again.

As I say, the focus of the commemoration is being held by the royal family.

Matthew Chance, CNN, at Windsor Castle.
