CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: There's a new ship called The World, and it's taking the concept of a vacation home to a new level of luxury. CNN's Richard Quest takes us on a tour of these one-of-a-kind condos at sea.

RICHARD QUEST, CNN CORRESPONDENT: By any standard, this is the epitome of luxury holiday homes. The vacation spot that will certainly help you beat your neighbors. And for one simple reason: for 365 days of the year it's on the move, floating around the globe.

The World aims to visit 250 different venues in the next year alone. And it's not surprising that there have been plenty of people willing to pay multi-million dollars to buy an apartment onboard. Let me show you something of this ship.

It's some 12 decks tall. At least the top part of the ship is all for those who have the most money. Deck seven, eight, nine and ten, apartments with their own balconies, two or three bedrooms. The minimum cost: $2.3 million, anywhere up to 6.5 million. For that, you get the right to live onboard the ship.

But you don't get anything else. You still have to pay your annual charges, an that could come to up to $200,000 a year. There is one consolation, though. Every apartment does have a kitchen. And even if you don't feel like cooking for yourself, the chef in one of the four restaurants will happily do a bit of light sauteeing for you instead.

This is a holiday home for the very few. For the likes of you and me, well, we can go aboard. The price, $800 a night. Richard Quest, CNN, just aboard The World.
