CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Well things weren't so bright on Wall Street either yesterday. Let's head live to New York, check in with Joya Dass.

Good morning, Joya.

JOYA DASS, CNN FINANCIAL NEWS CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Carol.

You know it looks as if stocks could get back on track, though, this morning. The futures are pointing to a higher open after two down days for the blue chips. And yesterday, investors found plenty of reasons to sell shares, that ranging from negative analyst comments on IBM and Microsoft to a drop in factory orders and the tensions in the Middle East. Investors found little reason to push the market higher. By the close of trading, the Dow industrials shed 49 points, but the big loser was the Nasdaq, tumbling 58 points or a little more than 3 percent.

Now in terms of stocks to watch this morning, keep an eye on WorldCom. It's reportedly set to announce up to 7,500 layoffs. That's about 10 percent of its global work force. The troubled telecom could make their move as early as today. WorldCom's accounting is currently under investigation by the SEC.

And that's a quick check of your business.

Carol, back to you.

COSTELLO: All right. Thanks a lot, Joya.
