CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: We have got some breaking news that just came in regarding the Enron debacle.

Ceci Rodgers is standing by in Chicago with those developments.

What's going on, Ceci?

CECI RODGERS, FINANCIAL NEWS: Thanks, Carol.

Well, I have learned that on Monday, Andersen is set to lay off 6,000, possibly more, mainly staff and support people, as the firm tries to shrink itself in the wake of criminal charges and defection of clients after the Justice Department charged the firm for allegedly shredding documents in the Enron case.

In another development in Washington, a source close to the company says the Department of Justice is sitting down with Andersen today. The outcome of that meeting expected to be revealed later today -- Carol.

LIN: All right. So 6,000 Andersen workers to be laid off.

RODGERS: Right.

LIN: Thank you very much -- Ceci Rodgers, reporting live from Chicago.
