KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Now, that disturbing story in Texas we have been telling you about. A 15-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy have been charged with murdering their 6-year-old brother.

The child's body was found in the woods behind the family's home in Lewisville, Texas. Brandon Todd of CNN affiliate KDFW reports on the shock in this suburban community.

MIKE HOUSER, NEIGHBOR: This is where the body was.

BRANDON TODD, KDFW CORRESPONDENT: Mike Houser points to a mound of tousled mud, where police found the body of 6-year-old Jackson Carr buried. Murdered, say investigators, by his siblings.

RICHARD DOUGLASS, LEWISVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT: It was late last night during the investigation, or early, I should say, this morning when investigators from Lewisville Police Department were able to get the 15-year-old sister to say that she did kill her brother.

TODD: Police contend the 10-year-old brother helped, holding the 6-year-old down until he was dead. According police, both kids then buried the body. The sister later joined a neighborhood search effort.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE YOUTH: We have been searching all around Midway and all the way around...

TODD: Monday evening, neighbors and law enforcement combed the area. Parents of the boy told police he was missing after a game of hide and seek. Within hours, the search effort turned to a homicide investigation. Flags this morning flew at half staff at Central Elementary School where 6-year-old Jackson Carr was described as an energetic, lively, and well-liked student.

MARGARET GURESKY, LEWISVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT: All the teachers, all the staff, are very distressed by what has occurred. We offer our sympathy to the family. It is going to be very difficult for them, but also difficult for us.

HOUSER: We walked right past...

TODD: Mike Houser says he walked by this location several times during the search, but what really disturbs him, he says, is when he recalls a conversation he had last night with the victim's 15-year-old sister.

HOUSER: She said something like, If they don't find him, I think I'm just going to scream. She was talking to me and my mom like she had no idea. And then, to wake up this morning and find out she was the one that was behind it, it is devastating.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

PHILLIPS: Well, the 15-year-old girl has been charged in her brother's death, and is being held at a juvenile detention facility. She has not entered a plea, and is considered innocent until proven guilty. Our thanks to Brandon Todd and KDFW for that report.
