CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Now the story of a rising musical star, a British kid who's preparing to graduate from the Indiana University School of Music.

Reporter Ben Morriston of CNN affiliate WRTV in Indianapolis introduces us to Julian Bliss.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

BEN MORRISTON, WRTV-TV REPORTER (voice-over): Like other boys his age, 12-year-old Julian Bliss wants to have fun, but he also has his serious side. Julian is a highly accomplished clarinet player. While most boys are out playing, Julian is inside playing.

JULIAN BLISS, CLARINET PLAYER: I hope to be an international soloist, that's my goal -- my lifetime goal.

MORRISTON: At the age of 12, Julian will be the youngest person to ever receive a two-year artist's diploma from the IU School of Music next month. This little star has a bright future.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He hangs out with and enjoys the company of the rest of my students who are, in most cases, twice his age. As you and I had indicated before, talent is the great equalizer. And so they look down to him physically and they look up to him, I think, musically.

BLISS: I'd like to play a piece of Gershwin. Thank you, Trevor (ph).

MORRISTON: Actually, Julian, who lives in England, is already a well-known star across the water. At four, he made his television debut and has performed on countless stages. In fact, Julian is on a first-name basis with Prince Charles.

BLISS: I've played for him three times. He's a -- he's a nice guy. I like him a lot. I like getting lots of attention.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

COSTELLO: I couldn't do it. Certainly warrants lots of attention. Remember the name, Julian Bliss.
