BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: To San Diego, the parents -- the stepfather and the mother of Jahi Turner now meeting with reporters.

TIERAY JONES, JAHI'S STEPFATHER: ... to find our son, Jahi. Me and my wife have learned that there are many children that are missing from the San Diego and California area. And we would just like to address that no child should go unsearched for, or missing, or just put in some file.

TAMEKA JONES, MOTHER OF 2-YEAR-OLD JAHI TURNER: We just want to tell whoever the person that has our son, if you could just drop him off at a safe place so that someone, you know, that is caring can bring him home to us. We don't care who the person is, just we want Jahi back.

BRENDA VAN DAM, CHILD WAS ABDUCTED: Also I'd like to thank the community for coming together and helping this family. And I also want to let everyone know that Jahi has his own Web site now.

The new Web site is jahimissing.com. And there's an updated picture there for you. And please download his flyers and put out as many as you can.

TIERAY JONES: Thank you very much and god bless you all.

QUESTION: Do you feel any responsibility for leaving your child?

QUESTION: Before you leave, can you tell us...

HEMMER: We were told the statement would be brief and to the point. Indeed it was. A call by the mother and the stepfather of Jahi Turner, for help. Incidentally, the woman making the Internet call there at end was Brenda Van Dam, the mother of Danielle Van Dam, who turned up missing and as later found dead there in southern California.

Jahi Turner, 2 years of age, disappeared in a park in San Diego last Thursday. The stepfather was with him at the time. He said he went off to get a drink. When he returned about 15 minutes later, Jahi Turner was missing. It continues to be a mystery in southern California.
