CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Comic book superhero Spiderman hits the big screen this Friday. Bet you didn't know there are five people in the country who are authorized by Marvel Comics to wear the Official Spiderman costume. One of them lives in Des Moines, Iowa. Our reporter Steve Karlin from CNN affiliate, KCCI went for a spin with the Web slinger.

STEVE KARLIN, REPORTER, CNN AFFILIATE KCCI: The new "Spiderman" movie is all set to swing into a theater near you very soon. He's here, he's there, he's everywhere. So you never know where this spider web shooting superhero will spring up.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hey Adam.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How you doing.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK to come in?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Absolutely, after you.

KARLIN: For obvious reasons, "Spiderman" likes comic book stores.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Surprise (ph).

KARLIN: And this trip, it's Mayhem Comics and Games on University Avenue.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He stops by all the time.

KARLIN: What are you doing in Des Moines?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Well, I'm just taking a break from fighting crime.

KARLIN: Unwinding a bit, taking a break, so he can take in his movie premier on Friday.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They always got me upside down. Never, right-side up. Never could figure that out.

KARLIN: He really likes the movie, and he says actor Toby McGuire makes a pretty good Spiderman. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A tragic accident happened to me when I was in high school. And because of that, I mean, I realized that I've got to use these abilities to fight crime.

KARLIN: Superhero movies come and they go, but Spiderman's friends at Mayhem say this one will trap you in its web.

TOBY MCGUIRE, ACTOR: I'm Spiderman.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: There have been others that haven't done so well. I believe this one is going to blow them all away.

KARLIN: But Spiderman's not letting all the movie hype go to his head.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Looks familiar.

KARLIN: Sure, he fights crime and he flies all over the place.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: With great power comes great responsibility.

KARLIN: But he's as grounded as he can be. As we'll all soon see on the silver screen in the new movie about the superstar superhero called Spiderman.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thanks to my friends at Mayhem for having fun here. And be the best person you can be. Keep your webs untangled.

KARLIN: Steve Karlin, KCCI, News Channel 8.
