DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: If you are over the age of 25, you might start noticing a little wrinkle here, a little wrinkle there, maybe a little facial flaw, and you are just kind of wondering what it would be like to fix it. Well, these days, cosmetic nips and tucks are becoming more popular, but are they safe? Today we page Dr. Sanjay Gupta on that about getting the wrinkles out.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

DR. SANJAY GUPTA, CNN MEDICAL CORRESPONDENT: Your face, a billboard for everyone's first impressions of you. With time, your face will change, and sure enough, everyone will get these -- wrinkles. Some more than others, but no one is immune. Sure, they're a sign of character, but unless you are Walter Matthau, you may not want to be a character.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I'm just a little bit concerned about some wrinkles that I'm starting to see around my eyes, and this area here.

GUPTA: More women, and men, than ever are choosing to look young, and a fountain of youth may take the guise of a laser, or even a hypodermic needle. From Botox to face lift, and everything in between.

(on camera): You're just waiting for numbing medication to take its effect?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Exactly.

GUPTA: Now, how much does a laser like this cost?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A laser like this is about $100,000.

GUPTA: 100,000. And, how much does a treatment cost, roughly?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Treatment costs about 400 to $500 per treatment.

GUPTA (voice-over): Which is generally not covered by insurance. If you have the money, you have options.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Robin's the perfect candidate for a treatment like this. Very young patient. You can see just some of the fine lines beginning to set in around the eyelid area. GUPTA: A beautiful woman, who wishes to stay that way.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK. One, two, three, and you'll feel a little pop. One, two, three.

GUPTA: Using one of the newest options, a cool-touch laser. It will get rid of bags under the eyes by building the collagen underneath. It takes about a month to see the results.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You doing OK?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Mm-hm.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK. The energy has passed right through the outer layer of the skin, and it's absorbed in the deeper layers.

GUPTA: And by the way, he's done. Total time under the laser: two and a half minutes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: But it's very gradual. All we've done today is injure her supporting layer of skin, and over the next month, she's going to be rebuilding that layer a little bit, laying down fresh collagen that hopefully is going to be with her for a long, long time.

GUPTA: It's more popular than ever, because it's less painful than ever.

(on camera): How do you feel?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I feel fine. That was absolutely painless.

GUPTA (voice-over): So many options to get rid of the wrinkles of time.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

GUPTA: And it really was amazing. Both -- lots of men, women, particularly young, too. You saw in some of the pictures there with all kinds of options to try and get rid of those wrinkles. Everything from the laser that you saw, chemical peels, to nips and tucks and all the way up to face lifts, so all sorts of different things.

KAGAN: You are right. Those women look like the after picture instead of the before picture.

GUPTA: They looked pretty good. I was kind of surprised, actually, that with so few wrinkles they were actually getting that done.

KAGAN: Exactly, which means we have a lot of questions. I have some, and I know our viewers have some too, so we are going to bring you back next hour. Page Dr. Gupta once again, and if you have questions about cosmetic surgery, he will try to answer them along with a plastic surgeon.

GUPTA: That's right. We'll have him here. KAGAN: A friend of yours?

GUPTA: Know him well.

KAGAN: Dr. Julius Few. Very good. Get some scoop on Sanjay as well. We are going to page Dr. Gupta and Dr. Few coming up. Send your questions to cnn.com. Go on-line and send us your questions, coming up next hour.
