PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: All signs point to blockbuster weekend at the box office. Hollywood's newest superhero, "Spider-Man," is making his big screen debut as the summer movie season shifts into high gear. "Spider-Man" is expected to hit the jackpot this weekend and take in between 70 and $80 million. Now two other movies are also opening this weekend, and unfortunately, for them, "Hollywood Ending" and "Deuces Wild" are expected to be dwarfed by spider-mania.

Joining us now our entertainment reporter, Susan Campos. Good morning.

SUSAN CAMPOS, ENTERTAINMENT REPORTER: Good morning, Paula.

ZAHN: I love the fact that the weekend isn't even here and we know how much money this movie is going to make. But it's big.

CAMPOS: It's big. They're saying 70 or 80; it could even be bigger than that. Because "Harry Potter" set the record for a three- day weekend at $90 million and they're saying maybe it will go over that, which would be great for them.

ZAHN: Now Tobey Maguire was an interesting choice for this role. He's not a household name yet. He's a very talented actor. Was this a risk for them?

CAMPOS: It was a little bit risky but you know, they thought OK he can place Pete Parker but can he play the spider-man part of it. The studio was a little scared. Sam Raimi, the director, really wanted him. They auditioned him. He apparently did great and he got the job.

ZAHN: Now what's the deal about a sequel on this one? Is there one coming?

CAMPOS: They're already talking sequels because it's going to make so much money. And he got $4 million, Tobey Maguire, for this one. They negotiated double that for the sequels. But if makes $200 or $300 million, his agents are going to come back and say, you know, I think we should renegotiate.

ZAHN: Well, why wouldn't they? I mean look at the track record of these other stars that have come in with these sequels. They're all members of what, the $20 million club. CAMPOS: Oh and there are new members of that $20 million club. Because if you're in one of these franchises, that's where you make the big money. Chris Tucker (ph), "Rush Hour Two," $20 million he got for that. And then you have Tommy Lee Jones "Men in Black" ...

ZAHN: I would have given him $40 million.

CAMPOS: He's so sexy.

ZAHN: He's very good.

CAMPOS: I know -- I love him. And then you have Cameron Diaz in "Charlie's Angels Two," $20 million. The great think about Cameron Diaz, she's doing "Shrek" since she did the first one, she'll do the voice-over work, $10 million for a week of work as will Eddie Murphy and Mike Meyers (ph).

ZAHN: But you know, once again, that movie made so much money, here and overseas, they can demand that.

CAMPOS: You're right.

ZAHN: (INAUDIBLE) right?

CAMPOS: Absolutely and what's funny is on an animated film, you usually get paid scale, which is least amount an actor can get paid. But again, on the sequel, that's where you say, well, thank you, give me the big bucks now.

ZAHN: You owe more for the last time.

CAMPOS: Absolutely.

ZAHN: Britney Spears in the news.

CAMPOS: Britney Spears.

ZAHN: Not the -- probably the photo she wanted to see in the newspaper.

CAMPOS: No. No. No. They got basically a picture of her with a cigarette in her hand. And you know she has that kind -- you can see the cigarette right there. And she has that ...

ZAHN: I don't think that's what everybody was looking at that Susan. Considering the angle of her leaning on that balcony.

CAMPOS: That body is just so sick. It's so good. But the cigarette in her hand because she has that squeaky-clean imagine of, you know, no smoking, no drinking and no drugs, no sex and so now they're saying she's out at clubs. She -- you know the papers are saying is she drinking, so it's just not unusual for 20-year-old to be doing all this, sure. But it's the image of that very you know kind of good girl image.

ZAHN: Yeah. And one wonders how that will affect the sales of anything down the pike. We'll see.

Have you seen "Spider-Man"?

CAMPOS: Yes.

ZAHN: And you liked it?

CAMPOS: It's great. Are you going to see it this weekend?

ZAHN: I'm not waiting in line this weekend. I'll go next week.

CAMPOS: Are the kids -- they're ...

ZAHN: Yes. They've been begging, but we don't like the hour- long lines.

CAMPOS: No. No. No. No.

ZAHN: OK. Thank you.

CAMPOS: Thank you.
