MARION ASNES, "MONEY" MAGAZINE: "Money" magazine chose Medford, Oregon as one of its Best Places to Retire because this is a town that has all of the splendid natural beauty of the northwest but with less rain which means you have lots of sunny days to enjoy the outdoors. You've got the Rogue River nearby so you have rafting and boating and fishing. You have beautiful mountains to walk in. Crater Lake National Park is less than an hour's drive away. And you have a good downtown that has -- now has a new national historic district. The wineries of Oregon and Northern California are nearby. Medford is just north of the California border so you have the wine tours, you have golf, outdoor activities of every kind. One of the things that people said about Medford was what a friendly town it was.
