DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Some news from the world of sports and horse racing. We are getting word from the Associated Press out of Lexington, Kentucky that Seattle Slew, the Triple Crown winner, has died. The word is coming from Hill 'n' Dale Farms. A spokeswoman there saying that Triple Crown has died. Of course, he is one of the classic stories in horse racing.

For those familiar, they know the story that a group of friends put together some money, $17,500, and they purchased Seattle Slew when he was a yearling, and then they watched him go on to develop as a Triple Crown winner, and establish himself as one of the leading sires of the final quarter of the 20th century. So, Seattle Slew has passed away.
