DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: The murder trial goes on as Michael Skakel, accused of killing Martha Moxley back in 1975, this one taking place in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Let's check in with our Deborah Feyerick, who is covering the story for us -- Deb.

DEBORAH FEYERICK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Daryn, Greenwich police officers had an arrest warrant application out for one of the Skakel boys back in 1975. But it was not for Michael, the man who is here on trial for the murder of Martha Moxley; that arrest application was for his brother Tommy. The state's attorney at the time refused to sign that application, saying he didn't feel there was enough evidence.

However, this came it light when one of the police chiefs who was overseeing the investigation says his officer was following leads pointing to Tommy. And that police officer even went to Tommy's high school to try to get psychiatric records. This was about three months after the murder of Martha, and it was about the same time the Skakel family decided to hire a team of lawyers and stem the flow of information to police.

Now, the defense was not happy at all they had not been given a copy of this arrest warrant application during the whole discovery period. They are trying to show that police at the time were looking at a number of suspects, none of whom were Michael Skakel. The judge right now is meeting with the prosecutor and the defense lawyer trying to figure out why a copy of this wasn't made available.

Also this morning, a very poignant moment: Martha's shoe was entered into evidence. It was an ordinary brown Top-Sider -- very popular at the time -- on the side of her shoe was the name Tom -- Daryn.

KAGAN: Deborah Feyerick, in Norwalk. Thank you. We are going to cut you loose and let you get back into the court. Thanks for the latest update on the trial.
