FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: Also in Washington, police in the Chandra Levy investigation are turning their attention to a man serving time for assaulting women in the park where the intern's body was found.

CNN's Jason Carroll is live at Rock Creek Park in the nation's capital -- Jason.

JASON CARROLL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, investigators are out here again today. What they are doing right now is they're gathering information so they can put together some sort of a computer map of the area where Chandra Levy's skeletal remains were found. Levy was 24 years old. She disappeared a little more than a year ago. Her remains discovered Wednesday by a man who was walking his dog through Rock Creek Park.

At some point, investigators will be re-interviewing Ingmar Guandique. He's serving a 10-year sentence for assaulting two women in the park. But D.C. police caution against drawing any conclusions from that. They will continue focusing on the area where Levy's skeletal remains were found, and they'll be working with a team of experts to try and determine exactly how she died.

CHIEF TERRANCE GAINER, D.C. METROPOLITAN POLICE: We still have our personnel out on the scene. They're working with forensic anthropologists and some botanists, trying to go through and make sure that we take layer by layer away from the scene where we found that body. The medical examiner and his forensic pathologist will continue to examine the remains and we hope to get additional information. But I do not think it will come soon.

CARROLL: And "The Washington Post" is reporting this morning that the police who were trying to search this area actually missed this particular area where Levy's remains ended up being found. Police saying that Rock Creek Park is very dense in some sections; it is spread over a very wide area. Some 1,800 acres, they say. It would have been virtually impossible to search every foot of it.

A memorial service for Levy is scheduled for next Tuesday. It will be held in Modesto, California -- Fredricka.

WHITFIELD: All right. Thanks very much. Jason Carroll, from the nation's capital at Rock Creek Park.
