CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Do not call it a barber shop, please. It's a barber salon, and it's for men.

CNN's Lilian Kim takes us on a tour in Seattle.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

LILIAN KIM, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): It's a place where guys can talk sports...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We need a hockey team is what we need.

KIM: ... and get their nails done at the same time. Called Bud (ph) Seattle, this men's grooming station offers all the amenities of a girly salon without the girl talk.

THOMAS MARRIOTT, HAIR STYLIST: They care more about sports and weather than anything else, where with women it's like, "Oh, who's on the cover of what magazine," or, "Did you see Halle Berry at the Oscars?"

KIM: Everything here at this barber salon is designed to make men feel more comfortable. These chairs, for instance, are bigger, made to accommodate a man's body. And several television sets give the place a sports bar feel; while toolboxes add to the manly appeal.

AARON OLSON, CUSTOMER: Well it's kind of masculine, and then at the same time you can get a little bit of the, you know, the poo poo shi shi.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: All right. It looks like it's going to be OK.

KIM: How about a hot towel after a haircut?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think most men are a lot more vain than they would let on.

KIM: Or even a hot wax.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A lot of wives send their husbands in and say, "Get rid of that hair." So that's what we're here for.

KIM: In a few years, Bud (ph) Seattle plans to expand nationwide, creating more salons that are good enough for a woman...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We're human just like anyone else. We want the attention.

KIM: ... but made for a man.
