DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: It is another classic match that just wrapped up between two archrivals at the World Cup. This times the Brits give fans a reason to dance in the streets as England beats Argentina 1-0.

Our Richard Quest is in the midst of the celebrations, joining us from London with reaction from the fans.

Richard, congratulations.

RICHARD QUEST, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Indeed. And pardon me that I have got the finger in me ear, but (UNINTELLIGIBLE) otherwise. You cannot imagine the excitement, because this wasn't just any old soccer match. This is a grudge game between two old footballing rivals, England and Argentina. Fairly even matched, but when the crunch came, and, oh, let's face it, this is all about who is going to go through to the next round of the World Cup.

The place erupted after the 44th minute, when the penalty was scored putting England ahead, and it went simply berserk. There is no other word, Daryn, berserk, when the whole thing came to an end sometime after (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

Richard is with me. He is going to talk to me through some of the match. Right. It was a match really that you won't forget.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You won't forget. Beckham, no one thought he was fit, but he proved himself today. The defense was strong. That's Sinclair on the left wing -- fantastic today.

QUEST: Does this greatly improve England's chances of going through to the next round of the World Cup?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think so. Nigeria are out now. We have got to play them in a week's time, and we have got to beat them.

QUEST: Now then, I know that Daryn in Atlanta is going to want to know what you thought of United States vs. Portugal -- and you do think the United States stands any chance of getting any further?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: USA didn't have any chance, but they played well. Portugal were a bit scrappy, and USA punished them, three times they did.

QUEST: OK. Richard, go back to your pint.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thanks, Richard.

QUEST: There you are, Daryn. USA played well, but don't stand much chance. Can't (UNINTELLIGIBLE) -- sorry.

KAGAN: Oh, come on, no sour grapes. Korea and Poland up next for USA, so we'll have to just watch and see. But congratulations on England's victory today for you, Richard.

Richard Quest, joining us from a pub, clearly, in London -- thank you, Richard.

A little hard for him to hear there, because being it is so loud among the celebrations.
