CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: We told you we're World Cup crazy this morning and we're keeping our word. We're going to take you now live to London. Big soccer city is very disappointed. I think that's the understatement of the year, isn't it, Richard?

Oh, I wish I could (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

(CROSSTALK)

RICHARD QUEST, CNN CORRESPONDENT: We lost. We lost the World -- all I've got is my little balloon left. We lost. Anyway, let's talk more about that particular victory by Brazil.

It was always going to be difficult for England to beat Brazil. They've never actually beaten Brazil in a World Cup game. And in fact, if you go back in history, Brazil the only time was a draw back in the 1950s so the expectations were perhaps quite low for England.

But even so, England got a first goal quite early on. It was then equalized by Brazil and the game just really took off with a very lucky goal by Brazil as the game moved on. Brazil even then went down to 10 men when they lost one of their players and England still couldn't win.

So let's come and talk to some of the fans who are here.

Well what did you think, how did you think England played?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Not very good the second half. The second half there was not very good at all.

QUEST: Not very good at all. What about you gentlemen?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: First half brilliant, second half lost it.

QUEST: Why? What -- we just didn't seem to get our act together.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Couldn't get the ball. Couldn't get the ball the second half.

QUEST: Down to 10 men and we still couldn't go through with 11 people that we had on the England team. And they even lost their best person. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That's Brazil's warrior (ph), always keep the ball. England, we cannot keep the ball.

QUEST: Let's look forward now because -- what about the U.S. game, U.S. versus Germany?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I fancy U.S.A., the little guy (ph).

QUEST: Sorry?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I fancy United States to beat Germany today.

QUEST: Hang on, it's going to be a hard one, U.S.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No, no.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The heat -- the heat will be the factor. U.S.A. can take the heat, they've got it all year around.

QUEST: All right, thank you very much -- Carol. That's enough. All right.

COSTELLO: Oh, that's just awesome. So, Richard, it sounds like England is going to root for U.S.A., is that true?

Richard, can you hear me now? I think I'm going to -- can you hear me now? I sound like that commercial.

Anyway, thank you, Richard. We're going to let you go and have fun with your fellow Brits.

(CROWD CHEERING)

COSTELLO: OK. Richard, are you recovered now? We love that.

QUEST: All right. All right, Carol, you're still with us. Now let's see who do you fancy, U.S.A. or Germany?

CROWD: U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A.

QUEST: Carol, the drinking's been going since early. Let's quit while we're ahead.

COSTELLO: Thank you very much, Richard. Oh that's just awesome wasn't it.
