San Diego Pets Turn to Energy Medicine

CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: A healing touch practitioner in California had always used her skill to help hospital patients relax and recover. Then she treated a friend and that has completely changed her patient base.

Reporter Renee Kohn of CNN's San Diego affiliate KSWB unleashes the details.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

RENEE KOHN, KSWB CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Marty Larkin loves playing with her dog Coco (ph).

MARTY LARKIN, HEALING TOUCH PRACTITIONER: She's just full of life. She is always a happy go lucky dog.

KOHN: But three years ago, Coco nearly died after a car hit her.

LARKIN: She came in to be euthanized.

KOHN: Doctors called Marty first to see if her healing touch techniques could help.

LARKIN: I assumed that whatever I was doing on a human would work on an animal and I didn't know. I just did it and it worked.

KOHN (on camera): Using touch therapy helped Coco so much, Marty decided to teach other pet owners about it to help their animals.

LARKIN: So I've got my hands out in front of the head and I'm just going to brush the dog's body, come off and shake my hands.

KOHN (voice-over): Here she teaches the magnetic unruffle. It gets rid of all the dog's negative energy.

LARKIN: And I'm just going to imagine I have a beam of light coming through my three fingers.

KOHN: This laser technique targets specific areas. Freya (ph) had surgery on both her knees.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The very next morning they seemed like they had dried up a lot more, were significantly more healed.

KOHN: Pendulums come into play to align the dog and owner's energy fields.

LARKIN: Because it helps owners and animals to bond.

Good girl.

KOHN: Just like Coco and Marty did, due to a very special touch.
