PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: While you were talking, got some new information out of the Middle East. We can now confirm that at least seven Israelis have been killed, 20 wounded when a bus was fired upon by snipers. And we were also told that a bombing proceeded that.

On the other side, we'll bring you up to date on that. The most interesting fact to come out so far that three of the alleged gunmen apparently were dressed in Israeli Defense Force uniforms. More on the other side.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ZAHN: We are just about two minutes away from President Bush addressing a bunch of folks from the Rose Garden outlining his Homeland Security plan.

First though, let's check in with Bill as he takes us to the Middle East.

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Yes, watching this Middle East deal, want to get overseas right now. At least seven Israelis killed, more than 20 wounded right now in a carefully orchestrated attack by Palestinian gunmen in the West Bank.

Our bureau chief in Jerusalem, Mike Hanna, tracking the latest now.

Mike, what more do we have? Good afternoon to you.

MIKE HANNA, CNN JERUSALEM BUREAU CHIEF: Good afternoon, Bill.

Well, confirmation from the Israeli Defense Force, as you said, at least seven people killed, some 20 people wounded when a busload of Jewish settlers was stopped by an explosive device planted in the road. As they got off the bus, Palestinian gunmen opened fire. The Israeli Defense Forces launched a massive hunt in the area for the gunmen. None have so far been detained, as far as we understand. No claims of responsibility as yet.

But yet another attack, this time near the West Bank settlement of Emanuel at least seven people killed, according to the Israeli Defense Force.

Back to you, Bill.

HEMMER: Mike, thanks, a quick update there from Jerusalem.

We will get more when we get it again from the Middle East.

Mike, thanks to you.
