Israeli Defense Force Searches For Bus Attackers

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Now on to the Middle East, where seven people were killed and at least 15 others were injured during an attack on a bus. It happened near the West Bank settlement of Emanuel.

CNN Jerusalem Bureau Chief Mike Hanna joins us now with more details -- Mike.

MIKE HANNA, CNN JERUSALEM BUREAU CHIEF: Well, Kyra, the Israeli Defense Force conducting a massive follow-up operation in an attempt to capture those responsible for the latest bout of killings, Palestinian gunmen reportedly dressed in Israeli army uniforms opened fire on people emerging from the bus. The bus had been stopped by an explosive device planted alongside the road. The attack happened outside the West Bank settlement of Emanuel.

From the Israeli government, a statement that the Palestinian Authority must be held responsible for this attack, saying that the Palestinian Authority has indicated it wants to continue using a strategy of terror. The Palestinian Authority itself has issued a statement condemning the killings of any civilians, be they Israeli or Palestinian, saying, too, that this attack is the responsibility of the ongoing Israeli occupation of West Bank cities.

Among the wounded in the attack, some 15 wounded at the latest count, a pregnant woman and a number of children. As I said, Israeli Defense Force conducting follow-up operations, and the perpetrators of the attack still not captured -- Kyra.
