CATHERINE CALLAWAY, CNN ANCHOR: Let's turn now to the latest bloodshed in the Middle East. Three people were killed, 40 others wounded when two Palestinian suicide bombers blew themselves up last night.

Our Chris Burns joining us now from Tel Aviv, where the attacks took place, with the very latest.

CHRIS BURNS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: This yellow spray paint marks some of the spots where the suicide bombing fragments were strewn across this shopping mall in a working class district of Tel Aviv. Life has come back to normal to some extent. Some people have gone back to the cafe here. Some people are shopping. The life has resumed.

But we've talked to some people who do remain in shock. There was one man, a Russian immigrant, who was thrown up against one of these trees. He said it saved him from being hurt more than he was.

Among those killed, there were three killed. Two of them were Romanian immigrants. This is an area of guest workers, people who come to Israel trying to eke out a living. There are 40 other people who are injured from that attack. At least five of them remain in serious condition.

This is the second attack in as many days. There was another one on a bus near the Jewish settlement of Emmanuel in the West Bank. That had come as the Israeli authorities were starting to lift some of their restrictions, their clampdown, month old clampdown on some of the Palestinian towns in the West Bank. Those restrictions now remain in place.

The Israelis had also begun talks with some lower level Palestinians. Those talks are also on hold. So these two attacks have blown a cold wind on any hopes of this peace process, in the short run, in any case.

Chris Burns, CNN, Tel Aviv.
