LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Checking on the British Open, Colin Montgomery, we understand, finished in the second round in the British Open with a seven under 64. That's not too shabby. However, the name at the top of the leader board is Ernie Els. It's a tough course, and the tournament is yet young.

Patrick Snell of CNN sports joins us from Muirfield in Guilane, Scotland. And it looks like it is raining there -- Patrick.

PATRICK SNELL, CNN ANCHOR: Leon, it's probably no surprise to you, that, yes, it is raining here, in stark contrast to the opening day, Thursday, which was beautiful conditions.

But first of all, what about the world number one Tiger Woods? He's got a little bit of making up to do. His second round Friday has begun quite promisingly. The tournament favor, remember, he's already won two majors so far this year. And he shot a 70, one under par in first round. He begun his second round pretty encouragingly, picking up a couple of early strokes. And through eight holes, he was three under par.

So Tiger Woods looking menacing, and still very much in contention for this tournament. But as I say, he does have a lot of to work do, to catch up with people ahead of him on the leader board at the moment, including Scotland's Colin Montgomery, who finished at minus four for the tournament. He shot a 64, which is a course record here at Muirfield, certainly one of the early headline makers here Friday. And what about South Africa's Ernie Els topping the leadership at eight under par after shooting a 29 on the opening nine holes. But Tiger Woods, as I say, still very much in contention, which is potentially pretty ominous for all his rivals -- Leon.

HARRIS: All right, Patrick Snell, thanks for the update, and we will let you go get dry now. We shouldn't be surprised that it is raining over there. Could use some of that here.
