CATHERINE CALLAWAY, CNN ANCHOR: If you're feeling stressed these days, you can dive into some chocolate without putting on the pounds, believe it or not. This morning, chocolate beauty treatments. That's right. Will they make you pretty and sweet? We can only hope so.

Joining us from New York is "Rosie" magazine's Kathy Kramer. She looks sweet. And from Philadelphia, the director of the Spa at the Hotel Hershey, Jennifer Wayland-Smith.

And, you know, Kathy, I want to start with you. We've all been smelling and...

KATHY KRAMER, "ROSIE" MAGAZINE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)

CALLAWAY: ... touching and all this stuff...

THOMAS ROBERTS, CNN ANCHOR: Some of us are eating.

CALLAWAY: Yes, Tom has tried to eat it. Kathy...

KRAMER: I know, some of the products really smell like they're...

CALLAWAY: Can you do it? Can you eat them?

KRAMER: ... good enough to eat.

CALLAWAY: Thomas, you know, (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

ROBERTS: I've sampled, I wouldn't recommend it.

KRAMER: You can really eat the products that you have in front of you, but some of the treatments that are done these days are made with all-natural ingredients, so you actually can eat them if you want to.

ROBERTS: But there was no warning. It said, "Oh So Delicious," so I thought...

(CROSSTALK)

CALLAWAY: ... that doesn't mean you have to eat it.

ROBERTS: But it smelled good, (UNINTELLIGIBLE). CALLAWAY: Oh, it does smell good. You know, I have to ask, how did all this start? Because when I first heard that we were doing something on chocolate products, I was thinking, Gosh, you know, that kind of sounds like something you might order from, say, one of those magazines, you know? But this is something that you find in reputable, reputable spas. This is quite the popular thing now, isn't it?

KRAMER: Yes, absolutely. There are tons of chocolate treatments popping up in day spas and salons around the country. There are manicures and pedicures, facials, there's body scrubs, as we'll be seeing shortly. And it's just a real way for clients to relax, indulge, and have a little bit of fun. And I think that's what everybody is looking for.

CALLAWAY: Is it mostly about the smell, or is there something that's in the chocolate that's therapeutic?

KRAMER: Well, chocolate actually activates the pleasure centers in the brain.

CALLAWAY: Wow.

KRAMER: So it really makes for a feel-good experience all around. And if you think about going into somebody's home and they're baking cookies or brownies, the first thing you do is take a deep breath in an inhale, and it's just totally relaxing.

And that's sort of the same vibe of what the treatments are about.

ROBERTS: Well, we have Jennifer Wayland-Smith, she's at the Spa a the Hershey Hotel, the director there.

Hey, Jennifer, a lot of people confuse chocolate and think that that actually calls -- causes breakouts, but it really doesn't, right?

JENNIFER WAYLAND-SMITH, DIRECTOR, SPA AT THE HOTEL HERSHEY: No. We're actually using chocolate on the external parts, and using it more from a simulated chocolate standpoint. We're now showing our chocolate fondue wrap, where we use More Mud (ph) that's infused with an essence of cocoa.

So it smells and looks like chocolate, and it's absolutely decadent. I wish you could be here to smell it, but now that you have it there in front of you, you can smell it as well.

CALLAWAY: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)...

ROBERTS: Yes, we warmed some up, so we have it right here on the desk.

KRAMER: Yes. Tom, please don't eat it.

CALLAWAY: We're trying to keep Thomas from eating it, because it does have mud in it. WAYLAND-SMITH: Yes, it is mud.

CALLAWAY: Now, tell me what, what's happening here? I see that she's painting this mud and chocolate on here, on here. What will happen? Will she just continue to paint? Will she massage, or...

WAYLAND-SMITH: Right, well, what Suzanne is doing is, she's now applying the mud to Lisa's body, and More Mud is great for the skin. It's rich in trace elements and vitamins. It also has that infused essence of cocoa in it.

ROBERTS: Wow.

WAYLAND-SMITH: And once we've painted the entire body, we'll then wrap her up, and the final product is looking like a Hershey's chocolate bar, which is what it's all about.

CALLAWAY: I'll bet she smells good after that.

WAYLAND-SMITH: Absolutely. And then you're allowed to relax for about 20 minutes, and then we rinse you off afterwards so that your skin is nice and soft and smooth.

CALLAWAY: Now, do you have to warm this product up? Because you melt chocolate, obviously, to get it smooth. But then it kind of congeals a little it. So what kind of texture does this have?

WAYLAND-SMITH: Well, this mud is actually...

CALLAWAY: Here, we can find out.

WAYLAND-SMITH: ... a nice, creamy texture. And we do warm it up, so it's a little bit more comfortable as we apply it...

CALLAWAY: Is it hot?

WAYLAND-SMITH: ... to the skin.

CALLAWAY: I'm putting some on Jacqui now.

JACQUI JERAS: We're trying this out.

CALLAWAY: I think I need a brush. You know, I know we were going to talk to the volunteer...

ROBERTS: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) working.

CALLAWAY: ... but -- who is having this done, but I think she's fallen asleep.

WAYLAND-SMITH: I think she might be asleep here. She's been enjoying the time here, and we've done a little bit of massage for her as well, and now we're doing the fondue application.

CALLAWAY: You know, I have to say, Kathy, I didn't realize there were this many products out there. I guess I haven't been shopping at the right place. Are most of these things found in spas, or, you know, (UNINTELLIGIBLE)?

KRAMER: No, these are found in small boutiques, in department stores, and around many of the Web sites. If you check out this month's "Rosie" magazine, all the information is in there.

ROBERTS: Is this a bigger trend?

CALLAWAY: Oh, nice plug, Kathy.

KRAMER: Thank you.

ROBERTS: Is this a bigger trend, something we're going to see more of? Because, I mean, of course Hershey's going to do something like this. But are other, you know, like L'Oreal and some other well- known cosmetics companies going to get into this, or...

KRAMER: You know what? This is...

ROBERTS: ... or what?

KRAMER: ... this is a hot trend right now, and I think people really can relate to products with natural ingredients and things we can relate to as opposed to ingredients they don't recognize. So there's a real need for comfort right now and nostalgia, and that's what these products bring to the table.

CALLAWAY: Yes, I love the way it smells. Jennifer, you feel like they're stepping in on your territory now? Everybody else doing this? I know Hotel Hershey was doing it for some time.

WAYLAND-SMITH: Well, there's room for everybody to have a little bit of fun. But obviously we're the creators of the chocolate fondue wrap, so we will take the credit there where credit is due.

JERAS: Have there been studies done at all, just by smelling this, does this make you want to eat more? You go to the spa to get healthy. But do you smell chocolate and then just want to devour it later?

KRAMER: Well, I don't know that one specific (UNINTELLIGIBLE)...

WAYLAND-SMITH: I know my stomach (UNINTELLIGIBLE)...

CALLAWAY: ... me want to eat it, right.

WAYLAND-SMITH: I know that my stomach is...

(CROSSTALK)

WAYLAND-SMITH: ... growling, so...

ROBERTS: Hey, all of ours are.

CALLAWAY: And it's moved Thomas to eat everything in sight.

All right... WAYLAND-SMITH: I still haven't had breakfast.

CALLAWAY: ... Kathy Kramer and Jennifer Wayland-Smith, thank you very much, both very much...

KRAMER: Thank you.

CALLAWAY: ... for being with us today.

WAYLAND-SMITH: Thank you.

CALLAWAY: And we're just divvying up the products here...

ROBERTS: It said "Delicious," though.

CALLAWAY: ... (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

KRAMER: Enjoy.

ROBERTS: So I thought you could eat it. It said "Delicious."

CALLAWAY: OK, OK.
