KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Seems like Bruce Springsteen is everywhere. The "Today Show" this morning, "Nightline" tonight, Letterman later. The boss is pushing his new CD, his first in years.

We get more on that story from CNN's Jason Carroll. He is in Asbury Park, New Jersey, the place where Springsteen first made it big -- hung out in that -- I guess those digs right behind you, Jason.

JASON CARROLL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Certainly is. Take a look, Kyra. There it is, the Stone Pony. It is famous here in Asbury Park, New Jersey. This is the place where Springsteen has been known to hold impromptu jam sessions. A few of us were hoping that he would show up here today. Not to be -- wasn't going to happen. But look, it happened earlier today. Out on stage early this morning, he sang to thousands of people who came out for a free impromptu concert, if you will, and Bruce Springsteen sang a few old favorites. He also sang a song off of his new CD that is out, but I want you to hear one of the songs that a lot of people out here call one of their favorites, "Glory Days." Take a listen.

Again, you're hearing there "Glory Days," hearing the Boss doing what he does best. Interesting that Bruce Springsteen has been around for so many years, and he is still able to reach out to people who probably weren't even alive when his music first came out. Joining me right now, two of his biggest fans, probably some of his youngest fans out here, 19 and 20. Erin (ph) and Kaitlin (ph) -- Erin (ph), I am going to start with you. What did you think of today's concert?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I thought it was great. I love the energy. I love the way he rocks. I just love the band. It was great.

CARROLL: Love the way he rocks. Let me turn to you, Kaitlin (ph). What do you think of his inspiration for his latest CD, which is, of course, "The Rising." He is back together with the E Street Band, putting out new music inspired by the events of 9/11?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think it's really nice to see that he is not scared to talk about a big thing that happened in the world, and it really touches a lot of people and makes a lot of people think. It really reflects what he is feeling, so I really liked it.

CARROLL: I am also curious about why you think his music seems to be able to reach out to so many different generations. I mean, I see the two of you out here today, I have seen people in their 50s and their 60s as well.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think he talks of experience, talks about real-life things, things that actually happen, and the influence of our parents. Our parents used to make us listen to it when we were little. So it kind of rubbed off, and we just grew on it.

CARROLL: I know we have been looking at his latest video, but I also want to get in your plug for your two favorite songs. Turn around very quickly. Yours is what?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: "Born to Run."

CARROLL: "Born to Run." Some of the lyrics. And yours, Kaitlin (ph)?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: "Rosalita."

CARROLL: "Rosalita." Some of the lyrics there on the back of their shirts. Two diehard fans. And Kyra, also want to point out -- thanks, Erin (ph), thanks, Kaitlin (ph) -- also want to point out that a lot of people have been wanting to see Springsteen, and they are actually going to get their chance. On August 7, he is going to embark on a national tour. He is going to be hitting what, 46 different cities, all across the United States. So those people who didn't get a chance to see him out here in Asbury Park, his adoptive hometown, they will get a chance because he's heading to city near you -- Kyra.

PHILLIPS: All right. Jason Carroll live from Asbury Park. Thanks so much.
