DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Want to check in once again on the breaking news story that we are following out of Southern California and that is the state-wide alert that is in effect, looking throughout California, a man suspected of kidnapping two teenaged girls in the wee hour of the morning.

Here is the girls pictures. Jaqueline Marris, age 17, and Tamera Brooks, age 16. Both were parked with their boyfriends at a place in Lancaster, California. Sheriff's deputies, locals, describe this as a very safe area for teenagers to hang out. Not early this morning, however.

This man, who is described as having driven a carjacked vehicle from Las Vegas to this area, approached the car where Tamera Brooks was with her boyfriend, held them at gunpoint. Taped up her boyfriend so he could take her, and then did the same thing with Jaqueline Marris, and then also took the Ford Bronco that Jaqueline Marris was in there with her boyfriend.

We have sound now from Jaqueline Marris's friend who she was with, describing what took place. Let's listen in to that.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

QUESTION: Did he do anything with the gun? Did he point it at you? Did he ever point it, what did he do?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He put it right to the back of my head while he was asking me questions.

QUESTION: Was it just one guy?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes. Just one guy. He told me he was going to kill me, but he didn't want to. He actually just wanted to tie me up. He just wanted the truck.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

KAGAN: Well, he didn't just take the truck. He took the friend as well, Jaqueline Marris, and also the other girl, 16-year-old Tamera Brooks. Sheriff's deputies and the FBI looking for these two young girls, these two young teenagers, and the abductor still today throughout Southern California. Not even sure what direction they might have taken off in. TO ORDER A VIDEO OF THIS TRANSCRIPT, PLEASE CALL 800-CNN-NEWS OR USE OUR SECURE ONLINE ORDER FORM LOCATED AT www.fdch.com
