LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Protecting the president. In reality, it can be a difficult and dangerous job. In the movies, it makes for some great drama. You just saw a clip of the made-for-TV movie "First Shot." That movie stars Mariel Hemingway. She's reprising a role she first played in the TV movie "First Daughter." She joins us now to talk about what we can expect When the movie premiers on Sunday night at 8:00 p.m.

How are you doing?

MARIEL HEMINGWAY, ACTRESS: I'm doing really well, thank you.

HARRIS: Good, I'm glad to hear. I hope you're doing better than me. I'm losing my voice. I hope you bear with me.

What do you...

HEMINGWAY: Don't do that. I'll do all the talking.

HARRIS: What do you do when you lose your voice? Has that ever happened to you when you're on the set?

HEMINGWAY: No, but I don't have to talk as many hours of the day as you do, so I can get away with not doing that.

HARRIS: All right. My wife reminds the same thing all the time, too.

HEMINGWAY: Exactly. That's a communication problem between with the two of you.

HARRIS: There you go. Communicate to me about the movie. As I understand it, the first one, "First Daughter," the movie which you played this Secret Service agent was the highest rated...

HEMINGWAY: Basic cable movie ever, at least at that time.

HARRIS: That's incredible.

HEMINGWAY: We have big hopes for it on Sunday. I think it's just as good of the first, if not better. It's really exciting. There's still as much action and adventure as in the first one, and it's a kick to play this role. I play a Secret Service to the president, protecting the president and looking for his assasinators and -- or attempted assassins.

And it's been -- it was really, really fun. And I enjoy the character, and you know, who knows, we may do another one.

HARRIS: You think so? Well, I guess you'll have to do another one if the ratings are just as high this high around.

HEMINGWAY: Exactly.

HARRIS: Tell you what, let's give folks at home another taste of the movie. Let's run a clip.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You OK?

HEMINGWAY: I want this guy bad. He was here before we were, probably had some kind of anti-infrared detection suit, well camouflaged, remained still, scanners, everything we would have missed him. He knows what he's doing, that's for sure.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Why just one shot then? I mean, you would have plenty of opportunity.

HEMINGWAY: Fire repeatedly, it's easier to trace the source. You run a higher risk of detection. It's not over. He's going to try this again.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HARRIS: You know, I, like most other men I would imagine, have had long daydreams about all some tall, beauty, athletic women who is protecting me. How do you research a role like this? Did the Secret Service let you hang out with them or anything?

HEMINGWAY: I had a little bit of contact with the Secret Service, not that much, just going over protocol, how to use the gun, how to use the cell phone how to, you know, talk into the earpiece, not dissimilar to what I'm doing now. So I found that really interesting. I grew up in Idaho. So it was not foreign to me to be around guns. So that wasn't frightening for me. And I'm kind of interested. I like it when woman are strong a can do those kinds of things well.

HARRIS: There's a lot of physical movement in this one. I mean, you have to pretty much a jock in this movie. Have you been a jock a long time, all your life or something, or?

HEMINGWAY: Well, I grew up, I was a ski racer as a kid. Then of course I did "Personal Best," which actually turned out to be career. It was three years of my life. So I've done a lot of athletic things. It kind of falls into my lap usually.

HARRIS: Are you going to be disappointed if the ratings on this one aren't quite as big. You almost set a record last time around. You did set a record last time around. You set the bar that high this time around.

HEMINGWAY: We did set a record. You know what, it's not in my hands. I can only say that the movie is really, really good, and people will enjoy it, as much as the first, if not more. So it's out of my hands, but I'm out promoting it, because I believe in it. And you know, TBS Superstation is a great station, and they're wonderful to work with. And you know, we look forward to it doing really, really well.

HARRIS: I have got to agree with you on all of that, and not just because the TBS folks they are our family members, but they are good people, and this is a great project.

Good luck to you. And once again, it airs this Sunday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern; correct?

HEMINGWAY: You got it. That's it.

Thank you very much.

HARRIS: Thank you very much.

You are quite gracious this morning, giving us your time. Appreciate it.

HEMINGWAY: Thank you.

HARRIS: Good luck to you.
