DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: It's a big weekend on the big screen. Samuel L. Jackson teams up with Vin Diesel in the action thriller "XXX," and it's expected to create an avalanche at the box office.
And the beauty is no lines to have to remember there.

Joining us with the weekend movie preview is Jill Bernstein. She is a senior editor of "Premiere" magazine. And Jill is with us from New York.

Jill, good morning.

JILL BERNSTEIN, "PREMIERE" MAGAZINE: Good morning.

KAGAN: Of course we're tight on time yet again, so we're going to see if we can get through as many movies as possible in less time it takes...

BERNSTEIN: Lots to talk about.

KAGAN: That looks less than a trailer in a theater.

"XXX," Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson. I don't think it's meant for girls like you and me, but...

BERNSTEIN: I don't know. It don't know. It's a real thrill ride. This is a typical summer movie, full of effects. Vin Diesel is a very charismatic guy. He plays this extreme sports competitor who sort of gets enlisted by Sam Jackson into this government effort, and becomes a spy. They're talking about it, a James Bond movie for the new generation.

KAGAN: Good or bad?

BERNSTEIN: Fun.

KAGAN: Fun. That's a good answer. Opposite end of the spectrum "Spy Kids II." "Spy Kids," the first one, was a huge success.

BERNSTEIN: Huge success. Really surprised everyone. This one is full of a lot more gadgetry, a lot more effects. They've already done their background work with all the characters. But everybody's back. Ricardo Montvaughn (ph) appears in this one as well. And it was also made for the same budget as the first one.

KAGAN: And most sequels usually aren't like that. BERNSTEIN: That's true.

KAGAN: But if you're a kid, or if you're a family, and you liked "Spy Kids" one you are going to will enjoy this one, too, it sounds like you're saying.

BERNSTEIN: Yes, it's a pretty sure bet in that respect.

KAGAN: Real quickly, Jennifer Aniston is so popular on "Friends," has had kind of mixed success in her big screen career. Now she's back as "Good Girl." It sounds like she was trying to work a Southern accent in that clip we saw before the commercial.

BERNSTEIN: A little bit of one, a little bit of one. She's very good in this movie. It's a small independent movie by the director and writer who did "Chuck and Buck" a few years ago, and she plays this sort of down and out woman, around 30 years old, working at a discount store, married to John C. Riley, who is this house painter character, and there's this other guy, this coworker Jake Jonoff (ph), who develops a crush on her, and he's much younger, and you know, it's an odd little love story that they have, and she's -- I've never seen her act so well. She's very talented.

KAGAN: Very talented. Very likable actress, I think.

BERNSTEIN: Yes.

KAGAN: We will look for that one. As I said, our time is short, but thanks for the tips, before we head out to the box office. Jill Bernstein from "Premier" magazine. Appreciate it.
