LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" comes to theaters Friday. This action adventure comedy is set on the moon in the year 2087, and it stars Eddie Murphy as Pluto, a night club owner, and Randy Quaid stars as Bruno, his robotic, and as we just saw there, very bald bodyguard.
Randy Quaid joins us this mourning from L.A. to talk about this new film.

Yes, glad to see the hair came back, Randy. Good to see you. How are you?

RANDY QUAID, ACTOR: Thank you. Fine, Leon.

HARRIS: Was that a skull cap, or did have you to shave your head?

QUAID: I shaved my head, and it was a skull cap, so go figure.

HARRIS: What this man won't give to commit himself to a role. Now tell us about your character. As I understand it, you play a robot in this one. You actually have to wear armor in this, too.

QUAID: Yes, I didn't know, you know, I never played a robot before, and it was set in the future, so there were so many things I could do with the character, but I wanted to get in sync with the director. So with him, I worked very closely with costume and makeup, and came up with his character.

HARRIS: This movie was done, what, two years ago?

QUAID: Yes, right.

HARRIS: Can you even remember the plot?

QUAID: Yes, it's an action comedy, and it's set on the moon in 2087. So it's a little futuristic. Eddie plays a night club owner who is trying to keep his club away from these bad guys here trying to take over all of the clubs on the moon.

HARRIS: You have a star-studded cast in the movie. Besides Eddie Murphy and yourself, Jay Moor is in this movie. Also, I have to ask you about this, man, did you get a chance to be close to Pam Grier? Is she still fine or what?

QUAID: Oh, yes, Pam, she is so much fun. She is so strong and a lot of attitude, and she was great to work with. I really enjoyed her.

HARRIS: I -- who did you have the most fun working with on this one?

QUAID: I worked very closely with Eddie and Rosario mostly. So I guess them. You know, I mean, it's hard it go wrong working with Eddie; you always have a good time.

HARRIS: I'm sure.

QUAID: A lot of fun.

HARRIS: And Rosario Dawson -- that ain't too bad a load to have to haul around, huh?

QUAID: Yes, she's great.

HARRIS: Is there any role that you'd turn down? I have seen you play everything. You go from LBJ to playing a robot in a movie on the moon. What would you not do?

QUAID: What would I not do? Oh, I don't know. There is a lot of things I probably wouldn't do. But, you know, if it's a good script, a good role, you know, I will really look at it and consider it. I just like doing as good of material as I can.

HARRIS: That's fair enough. Before we go, man, how's the golf game?

QUAID: It's coming around. I play intermittently now. I'm doing this series for Fox Television right now, and so I don't have much time.

HARRIS: It comes out this fall, right?

QUAID: Yes, it's called "The Grubs," and it's about a family of underachievers. That's been keeping me busy here lately.

HARRIS: Something to be proud of, be the poster guy for underachievers.

Good to have you with us this morning. Good luck on the movie and series, as well and the golf game. I know how that is.

QUAID: Thanks a lot, Leon.
