ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: You can take your Destiny's Child, you can take your TLC, for my money, just give me the Supremes. They sang their way into the hearts of fans back in the '50s and '60s. Now the U.S. Postal Service is actually commemorating their lasting lyrical legacy.
Tiffany Burns with CNN affiliate WOIO takes us to the unveiling.

TIFFANY BURNS, WOIO REPORTER: Twelve girl groups from the '50s and '60s are at the rock hall to unveil a postage stamp series in their honor.

MARY WILSON, THE SUPREMES: It's great. I just hope nobody licks me.

BURNS: And neither do postage stamps. This collection was seven years in the making, bearing Wilson with the driving force behind it.

WILSON: I look at all of the female girl groups being national treasures, and I think we all feel that we are now a part of history. We are on government stamps around the world, and it's only just a beginning.

BURNS: Now these singers will be traveling the world via airmail.

YOSSI MALAMUD, INTERGOVERNMENTAL PHILATELIC CORP.: When someone is on a postage stamp, their picture is actually being transported throughout the entire world. They become postal ambassadors for that country.

BURNS: Stamps have been issued in five countries, in the Caribbean and West Africa, commemorating the girl groups as part of music history.

LISA BROOKS, THE CRYSTALS: I would never imagine that in year 2002, that I would be standing here getting an interview saying, you know, Destiny's Child, you know, hey, we were here before you guys.

BURNS: As you see behind me, they are celebrating these new stamps on stage. Now even though these stamps are from foreign countries, Americans can buy them. Just go to Mary Wilson's Web site at www.marywilson.com.
