CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Now, that the summer blockbuster season is over, it's time to gear up for the movies expected to make their mark this fall on the big screen. "Premier" magazine has the lineup of hopefuls in its fall move spectacular.
The magazine's senior editor, Jill Bernstein, joins us now from New York with a preview.

Hi, Jill.

JILL BERNSTEIN, "PREMIER MAGAZINE": Hi, how are you?

LIN: I am excited. These are some films that we've been hearing along for so long. Talk about "The Gangs of New York," that's a film that's been in production for how long now?

BERNSTEIN: A long, long time, longer than they might have liked. But this is Martin Scorcese's latest epic. It takes place down in lower Manhattan at the turn of the century, where there is a lot of gang violence between a lot to immigrant populations, and one of the thing that makes this movie so newsworthy, is that it has Leonardo DiCaprio coming back, and Danielle Day Lewis, who not been on screen in about five years.

LIN: And a lot for both men, but especially, I would like, Leonardo DiCaprio after coming out with that I dare say horrible movie, what was it, "The Beach."

BERSTEIN: Yes that was a forgettable one.

LIN: What a bomb. He was in "Titanic," too, so I think he needs to prove his mettle here.

BERSTEIN: He's got two coming out this fall. He's got another called "Catch Me If You Can." He stars in that with Tom Hanks, and it's directed by Steven Spielberg. So he'll probably hit with at least one of them.

LIN: All right, let's look at "8 Mile," this is a hip-hop drama starring Eminem and Kim Bassinger, and just like my colleague here, Leon Harris said, this must be a sign of the apocalypse when you get these two people together.

BERSTEIN: Yes and no, I mean, Universal definitely took a risk i casting Eminem, the rapper, in this movie as the lead. He has never acted before. This is his beg debut, and it's about a young kid growing up in Detroit, as Eminem did, and trying to make it in the hip-hop world.

We could be seeing a new turn for him that could be sort of impressive.

LIN: Kim Bassinger is playing a mother, isn't she, in the film?

BERSTEIN: Yes, she stars as his mother.

LIN: Talk about against typecasting, really playing more to her age now, huh.

BERSTEIN: I guess. I think, you know, his mother is a relatively young mother.

LIN: Let's talk about "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." This is going to be a fun one, a great family film.

BERSTEIN: Yes, it's the sequel to last year's first Harry Potter movie that grossed over $300 million at the box office. So you know, this is directed by Chris Columbus again. All of the cast is back. This time Kenneth Brannagh joins them as the professor of defense against the dark acts. He adds the little comic relief. This one has a lot of big set pieces, like this "Chamber of Secrets" that they're showing.

LIN: I don't know if I am having problem with my microphone here. It seems to be going in and out. So I am sorry, Jill, if you can't hear me. So we've got -- those are the big three we can cover so far this morning, but of course we've got the big Bond movie coming out "Die Another Day," filmed in Hong Kong, Cuba and London, and then, of course, "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," a fantasy for everyone, especially for Leon Harris who gets to see Halle Berry in a bikini.

Thank you very much, Jill Berstein, good to see you.
