BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: About 25 minutes ago, we talked about this story out of Palm Desert, California, two hours east of L.A. Apparently a 9-year-old boy, Nicholas Farber, taken from his home at about 2:00 in the morning, middle of the night, in California. Two men apparently forced entry into his home. His father was assaulted, we're told.
And right now, authorities on the hunt in Southern California for a white SUV identified as a GMC Yukon. There has been, we understand, some sort of Amber Alert applied.

Marc Klaas by telephone in San Francisco.

Marc, can you hear me OK?

MARK KLAAS, KLAASKIDS FOUNDATION: Yes, sir, I can hear you fine.

HEMMER: What do you have for us on this? Has there been an Amber Alert put out there in California?

KLAAS: Yes, absolutely, a child abduction alert out of Riverside County, and it's all of the information that you want to put on something like this, Bill. They know when he disappeared, they know that it was a predatory type of a situation, that his life is endangered, and they're able to give -- they're able to give pretty detailed information on the suspects.

HEMMER: I'm assuming then that the highway signs up and down the freeways in California have some sort of description for the car, possibly a description for the 9-year-old boy. Would that be accurate?

KLAAS: Absolutely. In fact, the information that's out is the information that you have. I'm assuming that you have it. It would be the boy's name, Nicholas Michael Farber, his height, his weight what he was last seen wearing, and some very detailed information on the suspects, including the vehicle type, which is so terribly important in a situation where they're putting the information up on the highways.

HEMMER: Marc, are you hearing anything from the authorities as to a forced entry, a possible motive here, anything on that nature?

KLAAS: No, sir, I've heard nothing like that at all.

HEMMER: Marc Klaas, thanks.
